I started my first environmentally-motivated business in 1983, but wasted precious time working unrelated part time jobs to buy enough freedom to pursue my passion until it was self-sustaining.
In 1990, I co-founded a forest ecosystem NGO in Washington, DC, and we again faced the constant pressure of attempting to raise enough money to both live and do our work. But that also taught me that people love to support pioneers and visionaries.
In 2001, I set out to merge ecology and finance, and discovered thousands of people seeking to start businesses in that niche, but nearly all failing to comply with the narrow criteria of venture-style financing.
In over 25 years of pursuing this vision, I repeatedly attempted to launch recurring payment systems for business founders, but was limited by my skills and the available technology. Finally, those two factors converged, and the vision became possible to implement on a relative shoestring.
However, the main trigger was working with clients in South Africa, Cambodia, and Japan in 2024. I did not realize that most of the world was not plugged into the payment ecosystems we take for granted in the developed countries.
Seeing these clients struggle to pay their bills during their development stage, in January 2025 I set out to create a truly global platform so that my students could start raising money and building support communities from day one, Less than a year later, Make My Nut is the result.
I have raised millions of dollars in my life, and quite a lot of that was for projects that failed due to the need for much more. With Make My Nut, I decided to deliver a fully functioning application before seeking funding outside of a small group of initial recurring supporters who are supporting me via the single user beta version of the app.
Now I am ready to branch out and raise my own salary using the techniques I am teaching and the Make My Nut global platform. From there, my goal is to raise salaries to hire others to lead a growing list of projects I’ve designed from my long perspective as an ecological entrepreneur.
My first stage is to grow my own salary to $6000 a month for this vision, then continue to raise additional recurring funds to hire leaders for my own pet projects.
Meanwhile, I will continue provide free and deeply subsidized mentoring to as many independent project founders as possible. I have been doing this for the past year. A salary paid by my own supporters will allow me to streamline my mentoring practice and reconcile my energy output with my personal income needs.
There are many parts of the world where people are ready and able to lead on just a few thousand dollars a month. My plan is to build a community of 1000 new leaders who can truly take responsibility for the countless challenges that have been left behind due to lack of a grassroots funding system like Make My Nut. This can largely be accomplished by myself and a very small team.
The market opportunities are vast. I estimate well over $20 trillion in business opportunities today in the non-tech fields that interest me the most. The vast majority of the money raised on this site will flow directly to the project developers.
Rather than attempt to profit directly from platform users, I am teaching them the skill of being a “rainmaker” so that a new generation can use my best methods and Make My Nut to become independent leaders.
To this end, the site is not collecting any commissions. I and the company will be equal to everyone else here, raising my own income and business budgets in the exact same way that I teach others.
