Mark Winstein

Ever since I was young, I loved trees and nature. But at an early age, I also saw that economic trends devalued the things I loved. By the time I was 20, I began looking for ways to integrate economy and ecology. That led me to careers in ecological business, politics, and finance.

The journey was difficult, especially because the default societal view, especially in the United States, is that taking care of ecosystems is something for governments and charities, not for businesses.

As a result, I invented my own approaches to every aspect of society in order to create ecological business opportunities that transcend the typical confrontational quality of environmental progress.

Current Focus

Today, my work is centered on providing mentoring and powerful tools to people who would like to skip my learning curve and jump directly into careers that can make a big difference while also being financially rewarding.

My core belief is that if you are doing what you love, the world will take care of itself. For that reason, I’m doing everything I can to make my training and tools freely available to the public.

Priorities

The “Ecosystem Sector” alone is a $40 trillion opportunity that is largely overlooked by traditional business. Because of this amazing opportunity, my main priority is training a large enough number of leaders to create businesses that bring the sector to the level of understanding of traditional sectors such as transportation, energy, and healthcare.

Because I prefer to teach from experience rather than theory, I continue to spend time developing businesses in this sector myself.

Managing my health and energy so that I can fulfill this mission is its own project, and each day I get better at integrating that into daily routines.

Challenges

Learning what I now teach was quite difficult without mentors who could understand the opportunities I saw. I made many blunders along the way which resulted in many financial losses. So, at an age when many people are kicking back, it is like I’m starting my business career from scratch. But thankfully with a lifetime of powerful lessons to guide me.

Experience

In each stage of my career, I carried on until I discovered the fundamental rules of success in those pursuits. Often, those lessons came out of abject failures, which in many ways have been more powerful teachers than my successes.

Raising two sons, and then struggling with the breakup of my family led me to understand compassion and self-love to a level to where I am more able to give to others.

Legacy

At this phase of my life, I have a strong desire to give to others, and have the principles and platforms in place to do that. In terms of concrete goals, I aim to create a community of 1000 or more leaders handling the ecosystem sector, and whether in that field or another are successfully following their passions and dreams.
